Title: An introduction to algebraic surgery
Authors: Ranicki, Andrew
Issue Date: 2000
Citation: To appear in Surveys on Surgery Theory, Vol. 2, Annals of Mathematics Studies 149, 81--163, Princeton (2001)
Publisher: http://arxiv.org/pdf/math.AT/0008071
Abstract: Surgery theory investigates the homotopy types of manifolds, using a combination of algebra and topology. It is the aim of these notes to provide an introduction to the more algebraic aspects of the theory, without losing sight of the geometric motivation.
