| Abstract: | Section 80 of the Merchant Shipping Act, 1906, provides that Her Majesty may by Order in Council make regulations with respect to the manner in which Government ships may be registered as British ships for the purpose
of the Merchant Shipping Acts. This Order allows ships in the service of the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research to be so registered and determines the Sections and provisions of the Merchant Shipping Acts which shall apply to them. It revokes the Merchant Shipping (Department of
Scientific and Industrial Research Ships) Order, 1955, and re-enacts the provisions of that Order with modifications made necessary by the passing of the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research Act, 1956(d). |
