| Abstract: | Narrative Maps is an early version of a web based service that stores and presents user generated data in linked geographic and temporal visualisations. Narrative Maps uses existing web techniques to create an easy to use geographic wiki of history. It envisions a user base of students and researchers, that will grow as more data is contributed. The core of Narrative Maps is an interface that allows the user to search a database using geographic and temporal filters, rather than just keywords. Narrative Maps is intended to facilitate learning by creating a useful interactive visualisation of a narrative. The current version is available on the University of Edinburgh servers at http://xweb.geos.ed.ac.uk/~s0968681/cgi_bin/NarrativeMaps.pl. |
