Title: Design and Implementation of an Online Auction
Authors: Theodoropoulos, Theodoros

Abstract: This dissertation reports on the design and implementation of a distributed application that hosts online auctions. The system is implemented using Java and CORBA. Special care has been taken to make it secure, flexible, easy to use and deploy under different platforms and in addition, more interactive than a typical application. Several experiments were performed and several configurations were tested. It was found that such an application gives reasonable performance and is an attractive alternative to the more conventional web-based approach that is popular nowadays.
