The Department of Psychology occupies an attractive and spacious Georgian building in George Square, in the heart of Edinburgh. It consists of some 35 academic and research staff and around 45 postgraduate students in a given year. Around 700 undergraduate students are enrolled at any one time for our 4 year undergraduate Psychology degree. The department has excellent facilities for both teaching and research including: a well-stocked library with dedicated librarian, advanced perception, cognition and para-psychology laboratories, excellent computer facilities, and technical workshops providing services ranging from graphic design to full audio-visual editing facilities. In addition, a nursery school is run on-site providing excellent opportunities for developmental studies. We enjoy excellent relations with local hospitals, as well as with a number of other departments in Edinburgh, including Artificial Intelligence, Business Studies, Geography, Cognitive Science, Linguistics, Neurology, Neuroscience, Philosophy, Psychiatry, Social Anthropology and Sociology, making us ideal candidates for inter-disciplinary research in a number of fields.
